"Aging gracefully" is one of those phrases that sounds terrific until you actually try it. Growing older isnt easy, but you dont have a choice. However there are things you can do to make the aging process slower and stay healthy as you age.

Turn that frown upside down to avoid wrinkles and lines. Frowning often really can have permanent effects on your face. When you notice you are frowning, force yourself to stop. You can eventually break the habit.

Do not leave the house without sunscreen to avoid looking older faster. The UV radiation from the sun can severely damage your skin and it is a major contributor to how your face looks. Also know that too much sun exposure can lead to certain cancers so wear sunscreen every day.

As you get older, your overall health depends on the friendships you maintain and nourish. A consistent level of local community activity has been shown to increase your life span. To get the most benefit from your social interactions, focus your time into the relationships that involve intimacy with those you can trust and talk to about anything.

Exercise

You want to remain fit when you get older not only in your body, but also in your mind. One way to do that is to exercise your brain through puzzles and such. These mentally stimulating games will keep your brain focused and active, which could strengthen brain cells and possibly create new ones.

A great way to minimize the effects of aging is to exercise your body but also your mind. There are fun and easy ways to exercise your brain daily, some of these ways include: crossword puzzles, word search puzzles, reading, crafts or any kind of hobby that will challenge your mind. By exercising your mind you are helping your body maintain its memory, which as well know is important as we age.

Try to remember that aging is a part of life, not a disease or illness! Bodies do become more vulnerable to common infectious diseases during aging, so taking care of yourself and getting adequate exercise will help you feel youthful. Keeping active is very important to keep your body strong and your mind sharp.

Nutrition

Eat more nuts throughout the day. Nuts are a great food to help prevent aging. They have many healthy vitamins, minerals and fats, which will help balance your daily nutrition. Plus, they are an excellent way to stop your processed food cravings between meals, leading you to a much healthier lifestyle!

As you age, discuss with your doctor what vitamins and supplements you want to take. Often times our bodies become less efficient at extracting the nutrients we need from the food eat, so we need supplements. Ensuring you get the right nutrition is of paramount importance as you go through the aging process.

When caring for an aged family member who has Alzheimers disease, it can become spiritually, financially and emotionally challenging. As a primary caregiver, you need to try to keep yourself from feeling totally depleted. To combat the feelings of depression, stress and exhaustion, while caring for your loved one, it is important to get proper exercise, nutrition, and also carve personal time away from the situation, by getting others to help in the caring process.

There are many things that affect aging besides luck and genes. And it usually takes some hard work. Staying young and healthy requires some efforts from you. Tips similar to the ones that have been given to you in this article can help you through the aging process, and ensure that you find the best results for the effort that you put in to being healthy.
